tday has been a really weird day.
-
impatience creeps up &down our backs,
gives us sharp raps on the shoulders
causing a scare
then, screams &many other scares.
with every wheeze &grind
it moves inches
with every inch of skin it covers
it exudes curling strands of black smoke &soot
don't place your face so near, my dear
you kissed tentatively at the swirls of black &took a puff
i swear i was wrong, but i swear
i saw your lungs ignite
they come &go but only ill stay
only i'm willing to be left behind, my dear
from the corner of my eye i thought i saw you creeping
like impatience itself.
&we exchanged seats ;
i thought i caught a glimpse of
a smile so unctuous it seemed to be slipping upwards
towards your eyes
i must be seeing things.
