like sickly birds with
downy spotted feathers
we attempt to scale the wall with beatings of our clipped wings

it never occured to us that your eyes,

your eyes,they were like the skies themselves.
we never made it across the wall,but
being able to hold on to you felt nothing
like defeat. this freedom we already own.
